¡Hola hola, clase! Here is our presentation that we used in class today! (¡Usamos esta presentación hoy!)
- Calentamiento
- Please take out your SAMs, your NOTEBOOKS, the new vocab, and your HORARIOS from last week!!
- Then, LOOK AT THE CALENTAMIENTO on the new NEW NOTES PACKET!!
- WE'RE TAKING HUGELY IMPORTANT NOTES TODAY -- please DON'T LOSE THESE!!
- By the end of class, you should be able to:
- ...tell what a conjugated verb is.
- … translate what verbs that are conjugated in Spanish to English (to tell what the verb means).
- … conjugate a Regular -AR verb in Spanish.
- In order to conjugate in English:
- In ENGLISH, we change, or conjugate, verbs with a couple of rules:
- In PRESENT TENSE, we go from “TO SPEAK” to “I/you/we speak” & “he thinks/she speaks”... “TO RUN” to “you run” & “she runs”...
- So, to the root verb (like “think” or “run” or “eat”) we add on...
- an “-s” ENDING, but ONLY for “he” and “she”!
- But there’s also WEIRD ones, like “TO BE”
- I am, you are, he is, she is, we are, y’all are, they are…
- These are called “Irregulars”. They don’t follow the rules.
- In order to conjugate EN ESPAÑOL:
- In SPANISH, we change, or conjugate, verbs with a couple of rules:
- In PRESENT TENSE (everyday), we go from “TO SPEAK” -- hablar -- and “TO RUN” -- correr -- to many different conjugated versions:
- Get the ROOT of the verb by taking off the -AR, -ER, or -IR
- then, to the root of the verb (like “pens-” or “habl-” ) we add...
- THE ENDING that matches the PERSON or PEOPLE we’re talking about!! (You can always check the PRONOUN.)
- But there are still WEIRD ones → the Spanish Irregulars!
- Quick PRONOUN review -- what are the pronouns/people in SPANISH?
